About Us
In mid July 2016 we moved to a 2.6 ha rural block of mostly native bush 10 minutes out of town. The only building on the block was a half-round corrugated-iron hay barn. It was winter and the overnight temperatures were going down to -5 C on occasions.Initially our plan included making the barn liveable while we built a house on a flat area the other side of our creek. The longer we stayed there the more comfortable we felt in the barn, the plan changed to one of converting part of the barn into a cosy little apartment. We now have a 36 sq.m living area with a 15 sq m mezzanine bedroom, all fully insulated and heated with a log burner. Totally off grid with rain water collection, solar power with batteries and composting toilet. To follow our timeline from the start go to Journey. Kate has now set up her studio in Ribbonwood Barn, and we are preparing a Gallery. A selection of her paintings can be viewed at Kates Gallery which is being added to as new ones come along.
